That old saying “Nothing Adventured… ” it’s completely true. It’s a proverb, defined as “you can’t expect to achieve anything if you never take any risks“. Maybe you live a 9 to 5 life, day in, day out and you wake up one day and realize… I need more. One might find themselves seeking a better quality of life, more family time, or new experiences and running on empty trying to get there.
We are both in our 50’s and realized we were “story tellers” or “relators” (if you follow the Strength Finders 2.0 mentality). We loved traveling and taking Sunday “family adventures”, and when friends and family asked us “what are you guys up to”, we started sharing our travels, with them over the years. Finally, friends started mentioning taking these adventures outside our “circle” and sharing them on a more global scale, and at first we hesitated and then realized we were having experiences that others might enjoy sharing too.
So, we did it. We took the plunge and stepped outside our comfort zone. Why wait for retirement, when you can start making memories with your family today, how ever you can afford to? The decision, while a game changer, doesn’t have to be financial suicide. Research, planning, having patience and practicing some self control (took us 2 years to get this far), are all a small price to pay for living your dreams.
Our intent of this blog is to highlight our travels, mistakes and triumphs, budgeting, maintenance and daily ups and downs of life outside the “norm”, with a truck, trailer and we three….
